Launched at the 2015 Milan Salone del Mobile, SCP Classics is a collection of designs from the SCP archive, re-visited by each designer. It includes an armchair, a stool, a sofa, a desk, a number of tables, two daybeds, two storage systems and range of tableware.
Genuine design classics are defined in the Phaidon Design Classics book as “industrially manufactured objects of aesthetic value and timeless quality.” We have chosen these objects with that idea in mind, but naturally we have also chosen for emotional and sometimes playful reasons. These are very much our classics, with an idiosyncratic SCP character all their own. The first SCP Classics collection features designs from Jasper Morrison, Konstantin Grcic, Matthew Hilton, Terence Woodgate, James Irvine, Rachel Whiteread and Michael Marriott.
Each product was re-visited by the designer. Some remain unchanged from the original and some have been updated with new materials, finishes or dimensions.
